In today’s busy world we all need somewhere to escape to where we can let the stresses and strains of life ease away. Our relaxation area is a great place to chill out and unwind. It consists of a jacuzzi spa, sauna and steam room.
In the jacuzzi spa the combination of hot water and the hydrotherapy massage of air and water jets can help to increase blood circulation, remove impurities and relieve tired muscles without putting any additional strain on the body.
Saunas have been used for over 2000 years in countries like Finland. The high temperatures in both the sauna and steam room cause bathers to perspire and as a result clear impurities from the skin. They are also reputed to help ward off colds, soften up tense muscles, alleviate aches and pains and leave you in a balanced state of mind and body. The difference between them is the way in which the heat is produced. In the steam room the warm moist atmosphere is produced through the generation of steam. In the sauna the heat is dry and comes from natural stones that are heated by an electric stove. Humidity is regulated by small doses of water ladled repeatedly onto the hot stones. It is important when ladling water onto the stones that you allow the water to evaporate completely before putting more on. If too much is put on it will cool the sauna and damage the heating element of the stove. If you find the water bucket is empty ask a member of staff to refill it for you. Never put water from the swimming pool in it or add any kind of lotion to it.
Do not visit the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi if you are pregnant, suffer from high blood pressure or a heart complaint. If you are in doubt about using the relaxation area, please consult with your doctor. If, at any stage you feel dizzy or faint, leave the sauna/steam room/jacuzzi, sit down until you feel more comfortable and have a drink.
