Take our North Pole Challenge and deliver your letter to Santa Claus and still be back in time for Christmas. We challenge all our members of every age to count the distances they train, convert them to Santa Miles and use them to be the first to be tucked up in bed for Christmas Eve. Each kilometre trained is worth 1 Santa mile and the round trip will take 200 miles. Everyone has 6 weeks to complete the challenge so why not get into the spirit of Fitness and sign up today.

September 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment
We reduced the membership rates here at the leisure club on September 1st. All our rates have been cut and we have introduced a number of new packages and classes.
The main one is a special family rate for two adults and up to three children (aged under 17) which works out at 1100 Euros for the year. There is also a new packge available for couples who want to join for weekends or during our off-peak (restricted) hours.
Our winter programme of events and classes will also kick off again this month. Our regular water aerobics and men’s boot camp will get things started but we will also be introducing some new classes that will include ab blast, total tone and fit kids.
There will also be an opportunity to avail of swimming lessons with the start date pencilled in for early October.

Move of the Month brought to you by Babs
June 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment
This month Babs wants everyone to focus on their Love Handles.
An exercise called Side Bends can make this area more toned and defined.
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent.
Hold a weight (probably a dumbbell) in your right hand.
Place your left hand behind your head and slowly bend sideways to your rightlowering the weight down to about knee height. Let your body lean into the stretch. (If there’s any pain, you’re reaching too far.) Hold for count of three.
Return to an upright position and repeat 20 times before switching sides. These reps should be carried out twice on each side.

6 Things to Remember when Exercising
in Heat
STAY HYDRATED. Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty. Drink 15—20 minutes before beginning your workout and every 15 minutes throughout the workout, this includes while swimming.
EAT REGULARLY. Heat will decrease your appetite but it’s important to eat normally. Try and include lots of fruits and vegetables.
WEAR LIGHT LOOSE CLOTHING that can breath.
TAKE REULAR BREAKS. Give your heart rate and temperature time to come down. Use this time to take a drink.
TAKE IT SLOW. Use common sense and don’t attempt strenuous activities your body is not accustomed to.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Your body is the most accurate gauge of how you’re doing. If you feel in any way out of the ordinary, you need to stop exercising.
Don’t forget out fitness team are on hand to advise you on your fitness regime during the hot weather.
